When transporting goods in containers on ships can involve exposure to high humidity levels for long durations of time. This can cause damage to the material being shipped and can result in huge losses. Since
goods being transported are frequently subjected to climatic stress due to
changing climatic conditions in a sea route, they must be well-protected from
the condensation, which may occur inside the boxes. When sailing
on the high seas, there can be the presence of large amounts of moisture
that needs to be removed. This can be on account of climatic changes or
due to the packing and content of the cargo that is being shipped.
There are also instances when the container is not sealed properly and
admits air and other pollutants inside.
